Nothing sparks celebrations quite like a magnum. Winemakers will choose their best, most age-worthy cuvées to store in these double bottles, and Monteversa’s perennially-delicious Versacinto definitively takes up this mantle. A wine with Bordelaise pedigree from Italy’s North, the blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cab Franc lends supple red fruit and a powerful, ageworthy structure that will reveal more and more layers of flavor as the years tick by.

2022 Monteversa Versacinto Magnum
Tasting Notes
There's something magic about this wine. It's not from a region you've likely heard of, the Colli Euganei, but the grapes are probably as familiar as the back of your hand, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc. And the more erudite among us may expect that these were planted during the boom of Super Tuscans, but no, these have been tradition in these highly unusual hills for more than a century and a half. In this wine, their combination results in a wine that delivers the power, structure, and fruit of Bordeaux, the rustic, earthen edge of Italy, and also the freshness and elegance that comes from higher latitude, higher altitude vineyard sites. It's a stunner, full stop.
Food Pairing
A bold, Bordeaux blend like the Versacinto will be right at home beside elegant and rugged beef preparations ranging from Tournedos Rossini to Biftek Fiorentina, or even a steak tartare. However, it does have enough mineral freshness to match poultry like roast duck or chicken, or deeper, darker vegetables like roasted eggplant or grilled mushrooms.

2022 Domaine Jourdan Grand Amour
Tasting Notes
A classic wine from a classic Dry Farm Wines grower, the Grand Amour is a consistently excellent Cab Franc from the place that grows it best. Opening with dark fruit notes of plum, red currant, and bit of chocolate, the wine becomes both serious yet supple on the palate, with great tannins, a touch of acidity, and luscious fruit weight.
Food Pairing
There's an herbaceous side to Cabernet Franc that adds intrigue to classical Cab pairings. Try the Grand Amour next to a grilled steak with a punchy chimichurri, a pork shoulder with a fragrant mint salad, or hearty roasted eggplant with a concassé.

2020 Domaine Saint Germain Verseau
Tasting Notes
The zig-zagging parallel lines on the label of this wine are made to look like the extraordinary topography of Savoie, where rows of climbing mountains jut out one after the next. And this wine is a superb example of how a cool, high-altitude climate affects flavor. With dark, rich, ripe fruits on the nose, and juicier red fruit on the palate, look to the acidity and the elegance of the tannins of this wine as touchstones of Alpine wine.
Food Pairing
Get your ski chalet menu ready, this wine will work excellently with roasted mushrooms and soft cheese, lamb meatballs, and fondue with boiled potatoes.
