Our Founder's Story
"I want to share my story with you because I think many of you have experienced it."
It all started in 2015 when I became very fanatical about what I put in my body. I wanted to increase my longevity and improve my quality of life. How could I achieve better memory, better sleep, and elevated performance?
To achieve these goals, I had to make significant changes. I reevaluated my nutrition, food, and alcohol intake - everything that went in my body.
I decided to go ketogenic and start a strict protocol of intermittent fasting (eating once every 24 hours). I still follow these practices to this day, and the benefits have been phenomenal.
How did alcohol fit into this new lifestyle? As someone who LOVES wine, I had a conflict. I couldn’t find a wine that fit my lifestyle goals. I considered giving it up.
I know I'm not alone with this problem.
If you're conscious about what you put in your body, you likely experience the same conflict.
How can you enjoy wine regularly while also pursuing your lifestyle goals?
A friend recommended I try Artisan Wines. I had no idea what they were so I did some research. I was shocked by what I found.
The Truth about Most Wine
In the United States, there are 76 winemaking additives approved by the FDA. But, wine companies are not required to disclose their ingredients or additives, so you have no way of knowing what’s actually in your wine. Some of the additives are harmless and natural, while others are far more toxic. The most dangerous one is dimethyl dicarbonate (DMDC), which is strongly toxic to humans in its raw form.
Additives like preservatives and defoaming agents provide winemakers a lot of control over the winemaking process. Additives and GMOs allow wine companies to scale their production to meet demand. I had no idea what was in most of the wines I was drinking. And since I was trying to watch exactly what I put in my body, regular wine was not going to work for my protocol.
For example, I was trying to avoid sugar, but Mega Purple, a type of super-concentrated grape juice, is a common additive that improves the color and body of red wine.
It also stains your teeth and is 68% sugar by content.
Wine sugar and alcohol levels are scary
That brings up another point. You’d be surprised by the sugar content of most wines. Even if a wine is not technically “sweet,” it can still contain many grams of sugar. Wine companies tend to favor sweeter profiles because most consumers like it, too.
In fact, I sent the top 20 wines sold in the US to a wine lab, and almost all of them registered with multiple grams of sugar - even red wine! The story on alcohol by volume (ABV) is just as bad.
I’ve always thought alcohol is a dangerous neurotoxin, and that I was drinking too much of it. Plus, alcohol levels in the US have been climbing, and a recent study found they are sitting around 14% ABV.
So, now I’ve discovered that this drink that I love - wine - probably has additives, high alcohol, and lots of sugar in it.
But I didn't want to give up wine...
I didn’t want to give up my wine, but I also wanted to make sure I found only the best quality for my body.
So, I took Artisan Wines and sent them to a local wine lab. They tested them for sugar to make sure they were all sugar free.
I also tested them for alcohol. I decided I wanted to lower my alcohol consumption without completely eliminating wine. I call it “conscious consumption,” a more mindful approach to drinking.
Then, I sat down and tasted them. I only chose the wines that were sugar free and lower than 12.5% alcohol.
Wow.
Taste & Feel the Difference
It was an incredible difference. The taste, the purity, the entire experience. As a wine lover, I drink wine every night. I could totally see a difference between sugar free Artisan Wines and regular wines. I started sharing them with friends. Everyone absolutely loved them. Over the next few months without knowing it, I developed the Dry Farm Wines Certification for finding the purest Artisan Wines on the planet. This included a strict set of criteria: only organically farmed, sugar free, additive free, lower alcohol, lower sulfite, lab tested wines. It was from this personal journey that Dry Farm Wines was born. I set out to share more of these pure Artisan wines with the world, and to educate people on what is really in their wine.
